Where I’m writing: Kahili Coffee

*In an attempt to make this blog even more interesting, here begins a review of the places I take my laptop to.*

If there’s one thing I don’t like about living where I live, it’s that there aren’t enough cafes in walking distance. If I learned to like walking farther, though, and if it would be light a little longer, rain a little less, and warm up just a skosh–I might consider Kahili Coffee in Kirkland one of my neighborhood places. But I’d have to start coming here more to say that.

Erin + Cappucino=writing time!

And I might. It’s spacious and lit at a completely appropriate level. There’s a fireplace and big comfy chairs and a bar they encourage laptop users to park at. And for those of you with a partner that also brings along their laptop, the table I’m at is easily big enough for two, plus two coffees and some teeny-tiny brownies that are definitely NOT cheating on my New Year’s resolution. (Real-sized brownies would also fit on this table).

Downsides? I’m here at 5:30 on a Saturday and this is the first time I’ve come that it hasn’t been insanely crowded, though that might be my bad luck–and we still couldn’t get the comfy chairs. This cappucino is a touch more bitter than I like and I wish they had more of a food menu (Whatever this place used to be a few years ago, they also served wine at night).

And I’m sorry, I hate the surfer art.

Overall though, charming and cozy. Definitely a place I should come to more often.
